Portfolio
In Searching for Solace, I photographed local Manitoba landscapes when I was feeling anxious about an anticipated personal loss. During this time, I searched for comfort as a way to cope. I experienced some relief in the quietness and beauty of nature. After her loss, the grief was more difficult that I had thought. I continued to look to nature to find solace. When I looked at the photographs, I felt they were too vibrant in color. I decided to print the photographs in a warm tone and chose desaturated colors that mirrored my inner mood. In my grief, memories of my childhood surfaced of growing up in Paraguay, that were both good and bad. I added these memories in drawings on the images.
